After I retired from a career in education and already held two graduate degrees, the Lord prompted me to take coursework in biblical counseling. Two of my pastors and a relative steered me toward Light University Online. From my first contact with an advisor, I felt very comfortable that this was the route to the training I sought.
I wondered how rigorous an online program could be, but I was pleasantly surprised to get into the coursework and recognize that top-notch lecturers and panels were carefully selected to deliver the focused curriculum. One of the attributes of Light U Online that I love is that I can listen to the lectures again and reinforce my learning.
Posting essays, taking quizzes, and participating in the online discussions kept me fully engaged in my learning. I learned so much from others on this same journey, as well as gaining new perspectives from the professors. I began training to be a Life Coach in 2005. Light University Online did not exist then so I found what I considered my best option. When I found out about Light University Online I immediately signed up for additional Life Coaching classes. My experience has been phenomenal! I love the interaction I have with other students in the discussion forums. I learn as much from my fellow students as I learn from the actual class. The classes are very informative and helpful as I continue to grow and develop as a Life Coach. Also, The interaction with the professor in the discussion forums is beneficial as well. They encourage me to dig deeper, beyond the easy answers, into the heart of the issue.
I presently run a coaching ministry called THE CLIMB and Light University Online gives me the flexibility to do that, Lead Pastor a church and spend time with my family. I do not have to be in a classroom at a certain time each week. My classroom is anywhere I take my laptop which is very convenient. When I am traveling I do not have to miss a class and then have to make up my work. I simply bring it with me.
One of the greatest things about Light University Online is the teaching is solidly biblical. Often times in our assignments we are asked to support are answers biblically which helps me to look at my coaching from a biblical perspective. When I am working with clients I am better equipped to use the proper Bible passages to help my clients climb to their God- given potential. I would encourage anyone who wants biblical, in-depth training as a Christian Life Coach to enroll in Light University Online.

Academic rigor, experienced lecturers, practical advice, compiling topics, thought-provoking camaraderie, Christ-centered course work, foundational direction from God’s Word, Holy Spirit focus-driven vocation—these express my reasons for selecting Light University Online for training as a Life Coach.
I have been a life-long learner. The joke goes, “You have more initials after your name than in your name.” Light University Online more than filled my expectations for learning and training to be a Life Coach. I learned practical advice on what I needed to do to begin my own practice and keep it thriving. The simulations in many of the video lectures trained me to keep questions focused, maintain accountability with a client, and to assist the client towards his or her goal(s).
I learned I am neither a therapist nor a psychologist. Life Coaching does not delve into past problems. Life Coaches work with the “worried well” individual, an individual who needs support and aspires to a future with more fulfilling objectives. As a Christian Life Coach my prayer will be, through God’s grace, to continually aid and facilitate the education of my client to obtain the goal to which he or she believes God is calling him or her to accomplish.

Advanced Certificate in Life Coaching
I loved my classes in Christian Life Coaching at Light University Online. Christian life coaching comes out of qualified training and your own life story. Twenty-five years ago God placed in my heart a desire to help men and women with their marriage relationship. That is when the journey for me began. I pursued Christian Counseling, only to get redirected to Pastoral Ministry. I became an ordained minister, but still felt this call to counsel.
My sister, who is a psychologist, directed me to AACC. I contacted Light University Online and talked with Sarah Dunn, my online coach, about taking counseling classes. With the direction of the Holy Spirit she told me about the Christian Life Coaching classes and I signed up. I hadn’t heard of Christian Life Coaching. It was amazing. I found my niche after all these years! As eachclass is finished, I look forward to signing up for the next one. Thanks Sarah for listening to the Holy Spirit. My life verse is found in Proverbs 3, “Lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him and he will direct your paths.”
As I look back over the past 25 years, God has been bringing me to this point in my life and providing me with life experiences that are so valuable. I am now 61 years old but it is never too late to pursue what God is calling you to. I am so thankful he doesn’t give up on us but he works with us to fulfill his plan and purpose for our lives. In the process of earning my Advanced Certificate in Life Coaching from Light University Online, the Holy Spirit has been directing me to be a Relationships & Marriage Christian Life Coach. To God be the Glory!
